Fellow Health Partners salutes the dedicated, nurses during National CRNA Week Jan. 22-28, 2023.
Great River, NY – National CRNA Week gives the healthcare community and the public the opportunity to reflect on the heroic work and unique expertise of CRNAs and future CRNAs.
The American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology (AANA) established CRNA Week in 2000 to inform the public about anesthesia safety and the benefits of receiving anesthesia care from CRNAs. National CRNA Week has been the annual celebration of our nation’s certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists and nurse anesthesia students.
This year’s theme “The Original Anesthesia Experts,” acknowledges the long history as the first providers of anesthesia since 1863. Nurses first provided anesthesia on the battlefields of the American Civil War. During World War I, nurse anesthetists became the predominant providers of anesthesia care to wounded soldiers on the front lines.
This week has been observed for over two decades now and it brings attention to the almost 50 million anesthetics that are performed every single year. This week was previously known as National Nurse Anesthetics Week, but its name was changed after 2014 to its current name.
To all the CRNAs working so tirelessly to provide quality care – we thank you.
